Dr. Carrie Jennings Southworth began practicing in 2005 and still enjoys working with her patients and her team, and all the parents and grandparents she interacts with every day.
Growing Up in Braces
She knows firsthand what going through orthodontic treatment is like. She had braces for five years, including Phase I and Phase II orthodontic treatment and jaw surgery.
After going through all that and seeing how it changed the way she felt about herself, she decided orthodontics was the career for her. She marveled over the potential to help improve self-confidence in others.
Expert & Friendly
Dr. Jennings is detail-oriented and actively studies current research and topics in orthodontics. She encourages every patient to be an active participant in their treatment and prides herself in providing the most efficient treatment that results in beautiful smiles.
Dr. Jennings loves the relationships she builds with her young patients, their parents, and their families. Orthodontic treatment typically takes about two years, and that’s plenty of time for patients to become a part of her family.
These days, by the time one child completes treatment, a younger sibling is ready to start. Once all the children in a family have had braces, parents often approach Dr. Jennings about treatment for themselves. She sees this as the ultimate compliment.

Being a life-long learner is important to Dr. Jennings. She maintains memberships in several organizations to stay current on treatment techniques, orthodontic research and effective technologies that improve diagnostics and treatment.
She believes in being involved in organizations that help support the profession. These organizations advocate for patients, make sure orthodontists’ voices are heard in Washington and provide continued education and training.

Education & Training
Dr. Jennings’ path to becoming an orthodontist began at Hanover College in Indiana, where she earned her undergraduate degree in 1999.
Dr. Jennings graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry with honors in 2003 and then spent an additional two years at the St. Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education.
By the time she completed that program in 2005, she had finished a fellowship in cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies and earned a master’s degree in dentistry with a focus in orthodontics.
Outside the Office
Dr. Jennings is married to Andy Southworth, a financial planner with Kentucky Planning Partners in Louisville. They met at Hanover College, where they both played sports. They have three sons who keep them busy and always remind them of what is important in life.
When she isn’t working, Dr. Jennings enjoys just about anything sports-related. She’s an avid fan of college basketball and football, as well as professional football and baseball.
These days, she also follows her boys as they get involved in sports. She also enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends.
