Most people seeking orthodontic treatment have other important obligations during the day, usually work or school. When active treatment begins each patient is seen every 6-8 weeks, and some of these appointments may conflict with work or school schedules.
We have devoted considerable time and effort into designing our scheduling system. First, we want to see you on time for your appointment. Second, we want to have adequate time during each appointment to do the necessary procedures. Third, we wish to answer questions and update you on your treatment progress.
If you prefer all morning appointments, that can be arranged; although we cannot provide you with all afternoon appointments. Occasionally, a patient’s treatment may require a longer appointment to be scheduled during school or work hours. To be fair to all patients we try to alternate appointments from morning to afternoon.
Appointments will vary in length of time, and we try to estimate the length of time you will need for your next visit. During your treatments, there are times when the adjustments are completed quickly even though they may be quite technical. On occasion, your appointment will be longer than most appointments.
Because the schedule is carefully crafted, your late arrival can pose a problem. In fairness to other scheduled patients, we may not be able to accomplish the entire procedure and we may need to schedule a closer follow-up visit to finish the remaining work Dr. Jennings has desired for that appointment. In addition, a patient arriving with a broken appliance that we are unaware of, may also need to have additional appointments scheduled to finish the entire procedure. We also ask that you always phone us before dropping by. We, at times, may be available to see you for a quick appointment that requires no doctor time but to ensure that we can see you it is always best to call.
We realize that occasionally unforeseen circumstances arise which necessitate changing an appointment time or cause you to overlook an appointment. We will do our best to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible; however, in order to avoid delay in treatment, it may become necessary to reschedule after-school or work appointment to one during school or work hours. Missed appointments, or numerous appointment changes will inevitably result in an extension of your treatment time.
